State the composition of the General Assembly.

(1) The General Assembly consists of ALL THE MEMBER STATES of the United Nations — it is the only organ in which every member is represented, which is why it is called the "World Parliament". (2) Each member state may send up to FIVE REPRESENTATIVES, but each state has only ONE VOTE, so the smallest nation counts equally with the greatest. (3) It meets once a year in a regular session, usually beginning in September, and special sessions may be summoned; it elects its own President and Vice-Presidents for each session.

Three marks: all members represented, five delegates but one vote, and the annual session. The one-state-one-vote rule is the detail examiners look for, because it is exactly what distinguishes the General Assembly from the Security Council with its veto. Calling it the "World Parliament" shows you understand its character — though its resolutions are recommendations only and are not binding.
