Privacy policy
Last updated 9 October 2026
The short version: we collect what is needed to sign you in, mark your papers and keep your scores, and nothing else. Photos of answer scripts are deleted as soon as they are marked. We do not sell your data.
Who is responsible
Abir Kanjilal, operating TestWallah from Kolkata, West Bengal, India, decides how the data described here is used. Write to support@testwallah.in about anything on this page.
Browsing without an account
You can read every subject, use practice mode and print worksheets without signing in or giving us anything. We count page views without identifying who made them.
Our host records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — which keep the site secure and working. They are not used to build a profile of you.
When you create an account
We collect your name and email address and your plan. On your dashboard you may add a phone number, your school and a parent's email address; all are optional. A parent's email is used only to send them a weekly summary of your scores.
We also record the devices an account is used on (a random device identifier and the browser type), to apply the three-device limit.
Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which stores your credentials on our behalf. We never see your password.
When you send a paper for marking
The photos or PDF you upload are stored privately, sent to Google's Gemini API for marking together with the questions and our answer key, and deleted from our storage as soon as marking finishes. If marking fails, the pages are kept so you can try again, and are deleted after 7 days in any case. We keep the marks, short feedback per question and the chapters the questions came from, so your dashboard can show progress.
We use Google's paid API service, under which Google states it does not use the content to train its models. Please photograph only the answer pages.
When you pay
Payment is processed by Razorpay. Your card, UPI or banking details go to Razorpay directly and are never sent to, stored on, or visible to this site. We receive only a payment reference and a confirmation that the payment succeeded, which is what switches on your plan.
Razorpay handles that data under its own privacy policy, as does Clerk under its own. Both are separate companies and neither acts under our control in how they process data you give them directly.
Why we hold it
To sign you in, to give you what you paid for, and to answer you when you write.
Payment records are kept because tax and accounting rules require it, typically for eight years.
We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask us to.
Who else sees it
Only the services that make the site work:
- Clerk — accounts and sign-in
- Supabase — our database and private storage for scripts awaiting marking
- Google (Gemini API) — AI marking of uploaded scripts
- Razorpay — payments
- Netlify — hosting and content delivery
- Hostinger — our email, including the weekly parent report
Each receives only what it needs for its part. Beyond these, we disclose data only where the law requires it.
Cookies
A signed-in session needs a cookie to remember it is you between pages, and a device cookie lets us count the devices on an account. Those are the only cookies the site sets for its own purposes.
We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics profiling on the site. Clearing cookies signs you out; it does not delete your account.
How long we keep it
Account data stays while your account exists. Ask us to delete the account and we remove it, apart from the payment records the law requires us to retain.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion. Email support@testwallah.in and we will act within 30 days.
Students under 18
This site is built for Class 10 students, so many users are minors. We ask for as little as possible: a name, an email, optional contact details, and the marks from papers they choose to send. Answer-script photos are deleted once marked.
If you are under 18, have a parent or guardian create the account with you and make any purchase. A parent or guardian may write to us at any time to see or delete what we hold about their child.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Credentials sit with Clerk and payment details with Razorpay, both specialists in holding them. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not hold the data that would be most worth stealing.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version appears here with a new date. See also the terms of service.
