VASOPRESSIN, also called ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE (ADH), is released by the posterior pituitary. It makes the kidney tubules and collecting ducts reabsorb water back into the blood, so the urine becomes more concentrated and smaller in volume.
Its second name contains the answer: ANTI-DIURETIC means "against the production of urine".
A deficiency of ADH causes DIABETES INSIPIDUS — large volumes of dilute urine, and great thirst. Note that this is quite different from diabetes MELLITUS, which is a lack of insulin and produces sugar in the urine.
The other three hormones have nothing to do with urine: adrenaline is the emergency hormone, oestrogen a female sex hormone, thyroxine the regulator of metabolic rate.
