Judicial Review is the power of the Supreme Court to examine the laws passed by the legislature and the orders issued by the executive, and to declare them null and void if they are found to violate the Constitution.
By this power the Court acts as the guardian and interpreter of the Constitution and as the protector of the Fundamental Rights of the citizens.
Two marks: one for what the Court examines and one for what it can do about it. The words that carry the marks are "null and void" and "violate the Constitution". A vague answer such as "it reviews laws" earns half at best. Do not confuse Judicial Review with REVISORY Jurisdiction — review concerns the constitutionality of LAWS, revision concerns the correctness of a lower court’s DECISION. That pair is a favourite examination trap.
