State any two restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles on the German military power.

(1) The German ARMY was restricted to a force of 100,000 men (one lakh soldiers), conscription was abolished and the General Staff was dissolved. (2) The NAVY was limited to 15,000 men and 24 ships, and Germany was forbidden to build or possess submarines, military aircraft and tanks; the Rhineland was demilitarised.

One mark each. The figures are what earn them — 100,000 soldiers, 15,000 sailors, 24 ships. A vague answer such as "the army was reduced" earns half at best. Close with the consequence if you have room: these terms left Germany humiliated and defenceless, and the resentment they created was one of the causes of the rise of Hitler and of the Second World War.
