SPERMS are GAMETES, and gametes are HAPLOID (n) — they carry half the chromosome number, 23 in humans.
Nephrons, neurons and skin cells are all BODY (somatic) cells and are DIPLOID (2n), with the full 46.
THE REASON gametes must be halved: at fertilisation a sperm fuses with an ovum, and if each carried 46 the zygote would have 92, doubling every generation. MEIOSIS halves the number so that fusion restores exactly 46.
THE STRATEGY: three options are ordinary body cells and one is a gamete. When three options belong to one category, the odd one is almost always the answer — you need not know anything about nephrons or neurons to see it.
