Draw a neat, labelled diagram of the stage which follows the one shown in the diagram.
Topic: Telophase — diagram
Answer
The stage following anaphase is TELOPHASE. Your diagram must show: • TWO GROUPS OF CHROMOSOMES, one gathered at each POLE • the chromosomes beginning to UNCOIL and lengthen • a NUCLEAR MEMBRANE RE-FORMING around each group • the NUCLEOLUS reappearing in each new nucleus • the SPINDLE FIBRES DISAPPEARING • a CLEAVAGE FURROW beginning to constrict the cell at the equator (since this is an animal cell)
Labels required: chromosomes, nuclear membrane, nucleolus, cleavage furrow, centriole.
TELOPHASE is essentially PROPHASE IN REVERSE, and thinking of it that way makes the diagram easy to construct: whatever disappeared in prophase now reappears, and whatever formed now dissolves.
prophase: nuclear membrane breaks down → telophase: it re-forms
prophase: nucleolus disappears → telophase: it reappears
prophase: spindle forms → telophase: it disappears
prophase: chromosomes condense → telophase: they uncoil
BECAUSE IT IS AN ANIMAL CELL, show the CLEAVAGE FURROW pinching inward from the sides — not a cell plate, which would be a plant. That single detail must match your answer to part (ii).
Draw both daughter nuclei clearly separated at the poles.
