Imagine you were part of the Indian National Army. Mention any two objectives of the army.

(1) To free India from British rule by armed struggle, marching into India with Japanese support under the battle cry "Chalo Delhi". (2) To organise an armed force of Indians living abroad and of Indian prisoners of war, and to set up a Provisional Government of Free India (Azad Hind) that would take charge of the liberated territory.

One mark each. The essential idea is ARMED struggle — which is what distinguishes the INA from every Congress movement, and the contrast the examiner is testing. Facts worth adding: the INA was first raised by Captain Mohan Singh in 1942 and reorganised by Subhas Chandra Bose in 1943; the Provisional Government of Azad Hind was proclaimed at Singapore in October 1943; and it included the Rani Jhansi Regiment, a women’s regiment led by Captain Lakshmi Sahgal.
