The Indian National Army was first raised by CAPTAIN MOHAN SINGH in 1942, from Indian prisoners of war captured by the Japanese in Malaya and Singapore. It was later reorganised and led by Subhas Chandra Bose from 1943.
Three objectives: (1) To free India from British rule by ARMED STRUGGLE, marching into India with Japanese help under the battle cry "Chalo Delhi". (2) To organise a PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT of Free India that would take charge of liberated territory and be recognised by other nations. (3) To achieve the total mobilisation of Indian manpower and money for the struggle, and to train Indians both inside and outside the country for armed action — its motto being "Unity, Faith, Sacrifice".
Four marks: one for the founder and one for each objective. The founder question is a genuine trap. The INA was FOUNDED by Captain Mohan Singh in 1942; Bose REORGANISED and led it from 1943. Answering "Subhas Chandra Bose" is the commonest error, and the word "founder" is there precisely to test the distinction — though Bose is accepted in some keys, so make the chronology explicit and you are safe either way. The motto "Unity, Faith, Sacrifice" (Ittehad, Itmad, Qurbani) is worth quoting.
