(1) He is the chief LINK between the President and the Council of Ministers: he communicates to the President all decisions of the Council relating to the administration and to proposals for legislation, and furnishes any information the President calls for. (2) He ADVISES the President on the appointment of the other ministers, and also of the Governors, the Attorney General, the Comptroller and Auditor General, the judges and the Chief Election Commissioner. (3) He advises the President on SUMMONING and PROROGUING the sessions of Parliament and on the DISSOLUTION of the Lok Sabha; in practice all the authority formally vested in the President is exercised on his advice.
One mark per power. The question frames the President as the nominal head, so every point should show the Prime Minister as the real power behind the formal office. The first point comes almost word for word from Article 78 and is the safest to give. The phrase to use is that the Prime Minister is "the principal channel of communication between the President and the Council of Ministers".
