With reference to the President and the Vice-President of India, answer the following questions:

(1) He must be a CITIZEN OF INDIA. (2) He must have completed 35 YEARS of age. (3) He must be QUALIFIED FOR ELECTION AS A MEMBER OF THE RAJYA SABHA, and he must not hold any office of profit under the Government of India or of any State or local authority.

Explanation

One mark per qualification. The age of 35 is the same as for the President, since the Vice-President may have to act as President. The third qualification is the one that distinguishes the two offices and is often forgotten: the Vice-President must be qualified for the RAJYA SABHA (because he presides over it), while the President must be qualified for the LOK SABHA. There is no upper age limit for either office.
