The President can be removed only for violation of the Constitution, by the process of impeachment: (1) The charge may be preferred by either House of Parliament. A resolution containing the charge must be signed by at least one-fourth of the total members of that House, and 14 days’ notice must be given to the President. (2) The resolution must then be passed by a majority of not less than two-thirds of the total membership of that House. (3) The other House then investigates the charge. The President has the right to appear and to be represented at the investigation. If that House also passes the resolution by a two-thirds majority, the President stands removed from office from the date the resolution is passed.
