Answer
Exam answer
The Rajya Sabha can retain a Money Bill for a maximum of FOURTEEN DAYS. It may only make recommendations, which the Lok Sabha is free to accept or reject; if the Bill is not returned within fourteen days, it is deemed to have been passed by both Houses.
Explanation
Fourteen days is the figure. Adding what happens at the end of it — the Bill is deemed passed — completes the answer. This is the clearest illustration of the Lok Sabha’s superiority in financial matters, and the reason is democratic: the House directly elected by the people controls the nation’s purse. A Money Bill can also be introduced ONLY in the Lok Sabha.
