UNLESS means IF NOT, so converting from "only if" requires the MAIN CLAUSE to become negative: Original: She WILL BE selected ONLY IF she goes. Unless: UNLESS she goes, she WILL NOT BE selected.
Note what moves. The condition clause stays positive ("unless she goes"), and the negative attaches to the RESULT. Candidates frequently put the negative in the wrong clause and produce "Unless she does not go", which is a double negative meaning the opposite.
THE TEST: read your answer and ask whether it gives the same advice as the original. Both versions must mean "go to the auditions or you will not be picked".
