In the last century, the human population has increased tremendously. Death rate has reduced and life expectancy has increased. This rapid growth has placed significant pressure on resources. Global cooperation is needed for environmental preservation.
Name any one resource that is under pressure due to population explosion.
Topic: Resources under pressure
Answer
WATER (fresh drinking water). (Also acceptable: land; food; forests; fossil fuels; housing.)
One resource only, so name one.
Fresh water is the strongest answer because the pressure on it is twofold: more people need more water, and at the same time pollution and over-extraction are reducing the supply available. Ground water levels are falling in much of India.
If you have room, one line on the CONSEQUENCE strengthens the answer — for example, that over-extraction lowers the water table and makes wells run dry, or that clearing forests for housing destroys habitats and worsens flooding.
