The HIGH EMISSION OF GREENHOUSE GASES — chiefly carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels in vehicles, factories and power stations. (Also acceptable: deforestation, which removes the trees that would absorb carbon dioxide.)
One reason only, so give one and make the link explicit: MORE greenhouse gases means MORE heat trapped.
DEFORESTATION is the second-best answer and works from the other direction — trees absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis, so cutting them down leaves more of it in the atmosphere. One cause adds the gas, the other removes what would have taken it away.
The main greenhouse gases worth naming: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, CFCs and water vapour.
