The VITREOUS HUMOUR is the thick, jelly-like transparent substance filling the large chamber BEHIND the lens, between the LENS and the RETINA.
The AQUEOUS HUMOUR is the thin watery fluid in the small chamber in FRONT of the lens, between the cornea and the lens — which is option (d), placed here as the trap.
HOW TO KEEP THEM APART: AQUEOUS means watery (aqua = water) and lies in front; VITREOUS means glassy and lies behind. Light meets the thin one first and the thick one second.
Their functions differ too: the aqueous humour nourishes the cornea and lens, which have no blood supply of their own, while the vitreous humour maintains the SHAPE of the eyeball and keeps the retina pressed against the wall.
