The PUPIL is the circular aperture at the centre of the iris through which light enters the eye.
NOTE WHAT IT IS NOT: the pupil is not a structure at all but a HOLE. Its black appearance is simply the darkness of the eyeball’s interior seen through the opening.
The IRIS is the coloured muscular curtain around it, and it changes the size of the pupil to control how much light enters — constricting in bright light and dilating in dim light.
The other options are all real structures: the LENS focuses light, the CORNEA is the transparent front of the eye, and the SCLERA is the tough white outer coat.
