ORGAN OF CORTI.
Explanation
The organ of Corti lies on the basilar membrane inside the cochlea and carries the sensory HAIR CELLS that convert sound vibrations into nerve impulses. It is the actual receptor for HEARING.
The inner ear does two jobs through different structures: COCHLEA for hearing, SEMICIRCULAR CANALS and the utriculus/sacculus for balance.
