Where would the image have formed if the above lens was not used for correction?
Topic: Image position in myopia
Answer
The image would have formed IN FRONT OF THE RETINA.
Because the eyeball is too long, or the lens too strongly converging, the rays from a distant object meet at a focus BEFORE reaching the retina. By the time they arrive they have crossed and begun to spread again, so a blurred circle falls on the retina instead of a sharp point.
THE LOGIC that saves memorising: too MUCH bending means the focus is too EARLY — in front of the retina.
Parts (i), (ii) and (iii) form one chain — defect, cause, image position — so getting the first right makes the others follow automatically.
