CHOROID.
Explanation
The CHOROID is the middle of the three concentric layers of the eyeball. It is richly supplied with BLOOD VESSELS, which nourish the eye, and it is darkly PIGMENTED, which prevents the internal reflection of light.
The three layers from outside inwards: SCLERA — tough, protective; its transparent front is the CORNEA CHOROID — nutritive and light-absorbing; continues in front as the CILIARY BODY and IRIS RETINA — light-sensitive, containing the rods and cones
