The PULMONARY VEINS.
Explanation
The pulmonary veins carry OXYGENATED blood from the LUNGS to the LEFT ATRIUM — and they are the great EXCEPTION to the usual rule, since a vein normally carries deoxygenated blood.
Its partner, the PULMONARY ARTERY, is the other exception: it carries DEOXYGENATED blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.
THE RULE THAT NEVER FAILS: an artery is defined by DIRECTION — it carries blood AWAY from the heart, a vein TOWARDS it. The oxygen content is merely usual, not definitional.
