Answer
(a) Austria and Hungary became separate states.
Austria-Hungary was broken up after the FIRST World War, by the Treaties of Saint-Germain and Trianon in 1919-20 — a quarter of a century before the Second. The other three all followed 1945: the Axis powers were defeated, the United Nations was founded in October 1945, and the USA-USSR rivalry hardened into the Cold War. The pairing to fix: FIRST World War broke up the old empires (Austria-Hungary, Ottoman, Russian, German) and produced the League of Nations; the SECOND produced the UN and the Cold War.
Austria and Hungary became separate states.
