Math.pow(a + b, x)
Explanation
Math.pow(base, exponent) raises the first argument to the power of the second, so the whole of (a + b) is the base and x is the exponent. The bracket around a + b is essential inside the call: writing Math.pow(a + b, x) is right, but Math.pow(a, x) + b would raise only a. Note that Math.pow() always returns a double, so if the result must be stored in an int you would need an explicit cast.
