Explanation
(i) void is written in place of a return type to show the method returns nothing. A method declared void cannot carry a value back with return. (ii) static makes a variable belong to the CLASS rather than to each object, so a single copy is shared by every object — that is why it is called a class variable. Contrast an instance variable, of which every object holds its own copy. Do not confuse static with final: final makes a variable constant, static makes it shared.
