Answer
Exam answer
(i) ACHIAVAMANT (ii) -18
Explanation
(i) replace() changes EVERY occurrence, not just the first. "ACHIEVEMENT" has three E's, at positions 4, 6 and 8, and each becomes A, giving ACHIAVAMANT. Note that the original string is unchanged — replace() returns a new String, because Strings are immutable. (ii) compareTo() stops at the first differing character. D matches D, E matches E, then 'D' (68) meets 'V' (86), so it returns 68 - 86 = -18. The negative sign shows "DEDICATE" comes first alphabetically. Some published keys give -17 for this; compiling it returns -18.
