TENDRIL.
Explanation
A tendril is a slender, thread-like, coiling structure that a climbing plant uses to grip a support. In the pea plant the tendrils are modified LEAFLETS; in the grapevine and passionflower they are modified stems.
They are highly sensitive to touch and, having no rigid tissue of their own, allow a weak-stemmed climber to reach the light without investing in a thick supporting stem — an economical adaptation.
